Oklahoma State House and Senate Pass

Historic Legal Reform Bill in Cliffhanger Vote

But Gov. Brad Henry Helps the Plaintiff Bar Win

June 2007

Richard Rush, President and CEO, The State Chamber of Oklahoma, joins CFA Partner Spotlight to share an insider's view of the tremendous achievement of getting comprehensive a comprehensive legal reform bill passed by both the House and Senate after 21 years of defeats in the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Gov. Brad Henry (D), after advocating the very provisions of the bill in his first term, turned his back on his own proposals and vetoed the bill after siding with the plaintiff bar against the business community.

In this audio briefing, Dick describes what happened, what it means for Oklahoma and what The State Chamber of Oklahoma is going to do in its continuing fight to gain legal reform for Oklahoma.
